The silence, coming from Buffy's end, throws Ishiah a little. On one hand, he knows that she's capable of a great deal, even suspects that much of the time when the two of them speak, that Buffy tempers her words and behavior to better fit the atmosphere. (It's something Caliban can certainly never claim to having done.) But through it all, there's still an ineffable nature of hers that shines through, and part of that is how quickly she processes her thoughts and presents them to others in turn. This time, he's left hanging, waiting for her to say something, to offer further insight or even to disagree.

Only when she finally offers her agreement, nothing more than that, does Ishiah slowly let out a breath he didn't even realize he'd been holding at all. "If I have, I didn't mean to upset you," he says, still struck by her quiet tone.
